About Cynthia
BACKGROUND:
Born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, music has always been her first love. She began singing in church rallies and concerts from she was six years old. Cynthia fondly recalls that “Father Abraham” is the first song she sang at a church event.
A dynamic kind and helpful child, Cynthia was always busy in various elements of the typical Jamaican Sunday worship service; leading praise and services, reading the bible for those who couldn't.
INSPIRATION
Gospel giants FC Barnes, Shirley Caesar, the Grace Thrillers, Mahalia Jackson, Andraé Crouch and Luther Barnes were major inspirations while growing up but she also admires current Gospel acts and choirs such as; Tasha Cobbs, William McDowell, Phil Thompson, Marvia Providence, Jabez, Papa San, Shekinah Glory Tabernacle and Glorious Celebration, just to name a few.
This exposure and love for different genres has made Cynthia comfortable in many styles: Reggae, Traditional, Blues, Contemporary Pop, Country, Latin, R ‘n’B, Soca/Calypso and Jazz.
Throughout the years she has performed mainly in the Caribbean, United States and Europe. She has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with artists and acts like Israel Houghton & New Breed, Jason Mighty, DJ Nicholas and Bridget Blucher. The Saints Football Stadium, various cruise ships and television have all been graced by her presence.
While living in UK she made her 1st single “As We Bow” followed by her debut Album “I’m standing firm.” She is busy working on her next album.
FRANCE:
Though a British citizen, Cynthia currently resides in France, where she moved to in 2011.
She introduced Gospel singing to her city, but her influence has spread far beyond that. The French media has taken a keen interest in her work and ministry, and it is quite common to see some article or another covering Cynthia doing solo performances or with a choir. She also regularly does radio interviews.
The creator and director of two choirs -Gospel Poh'Wer and Power of Gospel – and a third slated to start in September, Cynthia is kept busy with her calling – ministering through music.
In June 2022 she was contacted to participate in a 2 day Jazz event with the well known jazz band Saveurs du Sud.
Cynthia believes that she was chosen to do gospel music. Her many concerts, conducting praise and worship workshops, singing to the old and infirm in retirements homes, always participating in and giving back to the community are “all a part of God’s plan” says Cynthia, and she feels honoured to be chosen to deliver the Word and to be able to have a positive impact on peoples lives, no matter where she is.
